 1. THE ECONOMIC SECTORS

Hi boys and girls! I am Bruno and in this unit I will be with you to learn how the economy works. We already know that one of the reasons people move is to find work. The three main sectors of industry in which people work make up a country's economy.

To learn more about it, I propose you to make a lapbook. To do this, you will divide into 6 groups of 4 people, 2 groups will make their lapbook about the primary sector, another 2 groups will make it about the secondary sector and the last 2 groups will make it about the tertiary sector. 

Now, do you know what is a lapbook? Have you ever made one? Ok, it is so fun!! 

To make a lapbook you will need colored cardboard to form a folder, white or colored envelopes, post it, colored sheets, photographs, glue, scissors, markers and any material that you think is suitable to make it.

Here is an example of a lapbook so you have an idea of ​​how you can design it. Be as creative as possible!

Now it's your turn, imagine that you have a company and you want to design an adverts to encourage your classmates to buy something. The product can be the one you prefer, you could even invent something new. To do this you are going to form groups of 3 or 4 people and choose which advertising method you prefer. Good luck guys! Markets used to be in town squares, but today they are spread across countries and continents. Hi guys! I am Luisa, Maribel's sister and she has commissioned me to teach you all the GEOGRAPHY OF SPAIN. I'm sure you will learn a lot of things! In these two weeks we are going to see the limits of Spain, the mountains and rivers around and within the Meseta and the archipelagos. Let's go to the fullest with this unit!

Today, just as we start the week, we start a new topic! We are going to start with the section on Spain and its limits by listening to a super fun song about the Autonomous Communities of Spain and the capitals. I love it!

We are going to listen to it several times and I will give you the lyrics of the song which you have to fill in with their name. When we have the complete file, we will underline the autonomous communities in blue and the capitals in yellow, so as not to confuse them.

Happy Wednesday guys! Today we are going to get to know the Meseta, an extension of the plain that occupies the center of the peninsula, the north and south sub-plateau, the Montes de Toledo and the mountain ranges that surround the Meseta (Cantabrian Mountains, Montes de León, the Sistema Iberian and Sierra Morena). But be careful, we don't all see them today, but the next day!

For the activity that we are going to do is draw a schematic map of the Iberian Peninsula on an A4 sheet of paper that I will distribute to you. In it we are going to draw the mountains with a color and we are going to name them and where they are located making a graph at the bottom of the page, that is, the map does not occupy the entire page. Keep this page in a folder that we will continue working with on Friday.

Happy Friday! As I told you the last day, we are going to continue with the mountains. As I told you the day before, we still had to discover the mountains around the Meseta. There are 5: the Betic System, the Basque Mountains, the Pyrenees and the Coastal Range - Catalan.

We are going to complete our map and we are going to delimit with the red color if it belongs to the interior of the plateau and orange if it belongs to the exterior.

Also, I reminded you to leave a space on the page to make a diagram with the main characteristics of each mountainous relief. There will be something so cool!

Happy Monday! Last week we saw the mountainous relief of Spain and in today's class we will see the rivers. We are going to follow the same mechanics as with the mountain ranges. 

I am going to give you the following blank map of the country and we are going to point out the most important rivers, along with the most important tributaries. We are going to use the color purple, blue and green to distinguish where the rivers flow.

In groups of two or three people you have to choose two rivers in Spain and you have to look for the following things: where it ends, where it starts, where it flows through and its tributaries and some characteristics of the river. Hi kids! I am Antonio and as you know, we are going to see the second part of Geography with me. You have seen Spain with my cousin Luisa and she has told me that it has gone very well. I hope it goes the same with me! We are going to see the relief, the rivers and the borders of Europe. Some activities will be very similar to Luisa's. Let's start!

Today, we are going to see the limits of Europe and the countries that form it. To do this, I am going to give you an empty map of Europe and paste it in your notebook. All together we are going to assign each country a number and we will put its name as a legend because on the map we will draw and color the flags of each country. There has to be something cool like this.

This is the game that I have told you about, it is for all of us together to learn the location of the places. In addition, we will learn if they are located in the north, south, east or west of Europe.

2. MOUNTAINS AND RIVERS IN EUROPE

Happy Friday kids! Today we are going to know the mountainous reliefs and main rivers of Europe. As there are not as many as in Spain, we are only going to take one session.

On our physical map, in brown or orange, we are going to review the mountain ranges and mountains of Europe and we will write the name with a black pen, while we will review the rivers in blue and write them with a pen of the same color. In this way, we will differentiate them more clearly.

We will write in another color the seas, oceans, lakes and peninsulas. If you had not noticed, we found several in Europe. Can you tell me what they are? We will answer the question in the blog forum in your home.

To finish, we will complete the following scheme so that the units of the relief are clearer.

Happy Monday guys! I hope you had a good weekend. Today we are going to make a tourist route but how are we going to do that in class?

In groups, we will search the internet for a European river which can be navigated and visit the cities through which the river flows.

In our notebook we will draw the course of the river and we will briefly explain the places that we will visit in our boat, as well as some characteristics of the river because not all of them are the same (different flow, distance, tributaries, ...).

Finally, in the last 15 minutes of class, we will explain our journey to our classmates.

3. THE CLIMATE AND VEGETATION OF EUROPE

Happy Wednesday guys! Today we are going to see the six climates that we find in Europe and where they are located, as well as their characteristics and the natural vegetation of the predominant species.

To do this, we will draw the map of Europe in our notebook and represent the following:

Today is our last session before review and final homework. Since I'm a child like you, I don't like taking exams and that's why I've decided to do a cooperative activity called: LET'S PROMOTE ECOLOGICAL TOURISM!

You already know that I love animals and that is why I want them to live in peace and in the best conditions. In this work we are going to get to know some European parks and we are going to prepare a tourist brochure for a vacation. This work is made up of groups of 4 people.

To do this, we are going to divide the task into 3 parts:

1. Research on the internet. Each group will investigate a European park. To find out what the park is like, we will divide the tasks. Among all the members of the group we must obtain basic information on: 

• Name, location and dimensions of the national park
• When was it declared a national park and why
• Relief type
• Hydrography
• Summit and vegetation
• Flora and fauna

2. Prepare a brochure. Later, we will prepare an explanatory brochure of the park to encourage visitors. The brochure should contain the basic information that you have compiled, a map of the park with possible visiting routes that indicate points of interest and some photographs.

3. Make a presentation. We will imagine that we are in a tourist fair and we will make a presentation before the whole class of the attractions that the park presents to be visited. In our exhibition we will defend the virtues of ecological tourism, which promotes knowledge and enjoyment of the natural environment and makes travelers aware of the need to preserve the rich natural heritage. We will do this last part on the 16th.

Do you know what happened in 1789? THE FRENCH REVOLUTION!!

We’re going to study what happened in our country in the 19th century in Spain. It’s important to you know some important aspects:

The 19th century was a time of new ideas, wars and constant change in Spain. Though the new ideas would be the foundation of modern Spain, the constant fighting and instability made it a time of crisis and little progress.  

To start the unit you have to know some new vocabulary that it is so important to you to understand what happened:

LIBERALISM: It is a political philosophy that holds that a person can live whatever life they please as long as they respect the rights of others.

TRADITIONALISM: Political system based on the Catholic tradition as the only truth and maintaining political institutions.

ABSOLUTE MONARCH: Political regime in which all power rested with the king

CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCH:Form of government in which there is a king, but the powers are divided

LA PEPA: Constitution of 1812.

Moreover, you have to know some special names: 

LUIS XVI: King of France in 1789.

CARLOS IV: King of Spain in 1789.

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE: Republican general during the French Revolution

At this point you know a lot of information about what happened in the 19th century in Spain. However, there are a lot of things that you have to study.

Some of these things are that after the war of independence and the constitution of 1812, Spain had three different stages: ABSOLUTIST SIX - YEAR TERM, LIBERAL TRIENNIUM AND OMINOUS DECADE.

After see this stages in the book, do you know a lot information so, you have to do a triptych in which you write the most important things we saw in class.

Each group has to fold the big cardboard into three pieces and you have to write the information about absoluti six-year and the liberal triennium in the first two pieces of the triptych. Do not forget to add many drawings and colors. BE ORIGINAL!!

Happy start to the week guys!! 

Today we have seen the reign of Isabel II, the people who reigned during her minority, the first Carlist war, the reign after her victory in the war, the clashes between the two sides during her reign, the revolutionary six-year term that was divided into the monarchy of 1868 and the first republic of 1873.

Too much information right guys? For this activity we are going to divide into 4 groups. The first group will be in charge of the minority of Isabel II, the second team of the reign of Isabel II, the third will carry out the revolutionary six-year term and the fourth of the first republic.

Today we are going to have fun doing a little research on the Spanish women who played a great role in the war of independence. To do this, you must create a genially, that is, a presentation about the role played by each of the women you have chosen.

As we always do, in groups you will have to search for information and choose the woman you like the most. In the presentation you must add the reasons why you have chosen a certain woman.

Once we have finished it, we will present it in class.
